Short of winning the lottery, inheriting a fortune, or stumbling across a big bag of small, unmarked bills in the desert, most of us must work for a living in order to have what we need and want our lives to include.

Popular belief would have us believe that we have somehow come up short if we aren't doing what we love, not living the life of our dreams, not working in jobs that we are completely and absolutely passionate about, that meet all of our heart's desires, and are entirely in our best and highest interest.

Certainly, this is nice work if you can get it, you know what it is, and you're in a position to go after it. But for many of us, we are unable or unwilling to pursue our ideal job. Or we may not know exactly what we'd love to do, but we know on some level that it doesn't exist in our current work situation.

Which is not to say that you can't find satisfying, meaningful, or fulfilling work. You simply need to figure out what "ideal work" means for you. Because you can, in fact, learn to love what you do even when you can't do what you love!

Autorentext

McDowell Graham is an Author, Therapeutic Storyteller, and Wayshower whose calling in service to others is to help people see themselves and their place in the world with new eyes.

At the heart of her practice is a powerful and proven three-step process called Examine Envision Emerge designed to help people learn how to examine their current thought patterns and belief systems; envision what they want to have, be, do, or change in their life; and forge a new trail to emerge into the light of a brighter future.

To assist people with incorporating this process into their daily lives, McDowell uses a healing modality called Therapeutic Storytelling, which showcases individualized stories to address challenging experiences; offer possible resolutions; and provide the opportunity for insight and reflection.

The stories we tell ourselves?and don't tell ourselves ? impact our emotions, our physical, mental, and spiritual states, our choices, and our relationships. McDowell uses stories, her own and others, to enable people to see the bigger picture; to inspire new ideas for change; and to move to action. When a person can identify their role in their own story as well as the story of someone who has shared their same experience, they can begin to truly understand their lives and the world they live in.
