Sebastian only wanted to escape his father's dark mood. His mother was not there that day to protect him.

He did not fear the woods or the stories of evil Witches and dark Faye who were said to live in them. They were just stories intended to keep small children from wandering too far. Yes, Sebastian knew there was magick there, he felt it as he foraged near the Deep Woods' border, but he did not fear it. It was like a balm for the sting of his father's constant disapproval. The glimpses of light, caught on his peripherals, helped him know that he was not alone and helped lessen the loneliness amidst the whispered rumors in his little village, of the foundling boy. But he kept his experiences to himself. He didn't need to provide another reason to raise his father's ire.

Today though, everything would change. Events would be set in motion.
