This book tells of a magic parrot who guards a treasure chest for five young pirates. The chest is kept at their Granny's house, which lies beside a small Devon creek. The parrot is not only magical but often very curious and rather naughty too! One day, when the Granny has gone away, he weaves a protective spell around the chest, undoes the door of his cage and - longing for adventure - he decides to take a holiday!
