The Source

Before I die,
I want to trace
The river to its source -

The damp, black earth,
The mountainside -

And smell the leaves and
Needles on the ground,
Be speckled in the
Light and shadows
Of the woods,

And cup my hands,
And hold the wild,
And drink it in.
