Phyllis Stein Beal began writing at age 12. She has published poetry, short fiction, and non-fiction "How To..." articles.

The Adventures of the Thug Puppies is her first children's book.

Ms. Stein Beal lives with her thug puppies, Missy, and Carmel, in Michigan.

In addition to writing, she enjoys gardening, birdwatching, cooking, and spending time with her family.

She is currently working on a cross-cultural cookbook.
