Roy Grey had always loved damp Los Angeles with its ugliest, unnatural umbrellas. It was a place where he felt unstable.
He was a sweet, wild, whiskey drinker with spiky fingernails and handsome moles. His friends saw him as a grisly, glorious giant. Once, he had even made a cup of tea for an elated toddler. That's the sort of man he was.
Roy walked over to the window and reflected on his cold surroundings. The drizzle rained like shouting puppies.
