John W. Martens is a professor of theology at the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota, where he teaches early Christianity and Judaism. He also directs the Master of Arts in Theology program at the St. Paul Seminary School of Divinity. His post-secondary education includes Tabor College, Hillsboro, Kansas, Vancouver Community College, St. Michael's College, University of Toronto, and McMaster University, with stops at University of Haifa and University of Tubingen.

Mark is the Lead Pastor of Village Church (Surrey, B.C.) which he planted in 2010. It is a multi-site church and one of the fastest-growing in Canada. He has a Masters degree in New Testament Studies from Regent College. Mark and his wife, Erin, have three daughters.
