This book explores the reception of the 1001 Nights in eighteenth-century Dutch literature and scholarship, and the bibliographic history of its French-language editions and Dutch retranslations.

Richard van Leeuwen teaches at the University of Amsterdam. He has published extensively on the 1001 Nights, including the first Dutch translation directly from the Arabic.Arnoud Vrolijk is Curator of Oriental Manuscripts and Rare Books at Leiden University. He has published several books on the history of Arabic scholarship in the Netherlands.
