"Gnocchi," is a 600 flash fiction story. It is a humorous take on genetic engineering and Italian cooking as seen through the eyes of a child. After reading this flash fiction story, you may wonder if the author is Italian and whether she was forced to spend hours stirring pots of red sauce in the kitchen as a child. The answer is yes to both. Though we didn't have genetic engineered body parts back then. . . .

The story won the Penn Cove Literary Award in 2013.
