I live in Dallas with my daughter, three cats, and four chickens. As a single parent, I struggle to instill in my daughter an acceptable understanding of hierarchy and her juvenile position in society. She has a fiery love of freedom and independence, and she flares into self-defense when these are challenged. We have many projects together, including writing books, makeshift farming, and general exploration of life skills. These projects allow us to construct an historical as well as current perspective of our community, the advantages it offers, and the magic that holds it together.
