Hanich, a young man, is presented with a situation of being apprenticed to Mr. Scrimm, who is the proprietor of a shop which offers "Comfort for People in Extraordinary Circumstances", which does business in the most rundown section of the city, a place called "The Academia". Along with his co-worker, Mira, Hanich is given opportunity to learn the trade of giving help to the people who need it the most, and learning, in the course of it all, that some circumstances are more extraordinary than others.
