The author is a midwesterner, born in Oak Park, Illinois, This is her second collection of poetry. She has also published a more whimsical book of poems, A Little Book of Animal Verses for Children of All Ages. Another of her children's books, My Life With Raccoons, is a nonfiction account of her experiences with woodland animals upon returning to her childhood home in northern Indiana.
