Award winning author, Sylvia Nickels, reveals the heart of a widow struggling with life after her husband's death. The painful result of secrets that may be uncovered can bring sorrow or - sometimes - joy. Because her father was unfaithful to her mother, childless Royce Thorne values marital fidelity above all else. Following her policeman husband's death in the line of duty, her attorney delivers a letter Eddy wrote for her, revealing the shocking secret that he fathered an illegitimate son, and asking her to do something. When someone who knows the secret uses it to frame Eddy's son for murder, Royce sets out to uncover the real killer, even if it means her husband's betrayal is revealed. Hindered by a fake FBI agent, an ambitious investigative reporter, and a scheming tv show host and her sister - who all have secrets - Royce helps catch the killer and finds the family she always wanted.

Sylvia Nickels pursues her lifelong dream of writing from her home in the mountains of East Tennessee. A graduate of Tusculum College, she is retired from the telephone industry and active with local writer's guilds.
An avid reader for many years of stories and novels involving 'gumshoes', Sylvia once applied for a job as an apprentice PI, but to her disappointment it never happened.
She is the creator of two novel series. Widow Royce Thorne, main character of Disguise for Death and two other books in the series, can't keep from getting underfoot of Police Chief Jared Granite in Fall Creek, Tennessee, while searching for evidence to clear her late policeman husband's illegitimate son of murder.
The second series features Private Investigator Cameron Locke, who tracks down killers in Wexler Bend, Tennessee, hoping her friendship with police Sergeant Shac Lane grows into something deeper. The first three novels in the series may be found at most book venues.
