Convicted of murder, jail-bound Hetty Taylor escapes her captors during a violent storm. Roused from sleep, widowed rancher, Gerry Archer, finds her lying on his doorstep drenched and unconscious. Unaware of Hetty's past, Gerry takes her in, believing she is an answer to his prayers for a new wife. His hopes are dashed when Hetty is again apprehended and charged with a second murder. Nevertheless, Gerry stands by her, aided by the temperance women of Tetonville and Cheyenne Springs.
