Knowing Sunshine is a celebration of winning. The promise of victory is revealed in pieces. A melancholic, young girl battles back from a self-imposed exile to become a woman fully able to embrace the joy of life. Each poem speaks of this confidence; every sorrow can be healed by God. Life has its rough edges, but the darkness of each passing storm cannot persist in the presence of light. The women in the short story, "Around Midnight," connect with an inner power when they chose to see a future beyond the pain. The reader is invited to join the journey in search of restoration. It begins with taking a bold leap of faith and ends with finding true peace. Knowing Sunshine is about finding freedom in the places where the unconditional love of God abounds.

Autorentext

Tonya Patrice Jordan, a poet, a surgeon, and a true believer, is the eldest of three sisters. She was born in NJ; she has lived in CT, NC, NY, FL, TX, and GA. Her journey has been one full of amazing travels, laughter, and adventure. Tonya enjoys reading the classics and poetry, but nothing compares to the time she spends with her amazing niece, the energetic ball of fire better known as Zoella La Bella. Tonya first heard the singing in her soul when she read Langston Hughes in college. It was the beginning of her love affair with the music found in poetry. It is what compels her to write. She may be tone-deaf, but she can sing out loud when she puts pen to paper or fingers to keyboard. She has learned words have the power to heal. Her poems have become the instruments through which she advocates seeking love, community, and heaven on earth.
