In 1890, left pregnant after an assault, Isabella signs up to be a mail-order bride to a rich older man in San Francisco, hoping he will believe the child is his. However, when she arrives by train, the man has died. Handsome, rakish Shane Parker, on a ranch a few hours south in Monterey, has requested a mail-order bride and is willing to marry Isabella.
