Volume 8 closes this edition of Meyerbeer's correspondence, personal journals and pocket diaries and provides the reader with detailed information about public music life in Berlin, London and Paris during the time from 1860 to 1864. Especially interesting are the documents on his work as the Prussian general music director under Wilhelm I and his posthumously premiered opera L'Africaine .
