Central aspect of learning is the transfer of the learnt to new challenges. Thus transfer of learning is not only relevant to learning research but particularly in the area of thinking and problem solving. Recently the transfer of cognitive structures, strategies and metacognitive competences are researched intensively especially self-regulated learning. This issue is theoretically important and practically helpful for academic and personal education, for training with simulators and even and for coaching.
