Vidya Pai's very first translation won the Konkani award at the Katha-British Council Translation contest in 1993. She has since translated eight Konkani novels and numerous short stories. She has worked with the luminaries of Konkani writing from Pundalik Naik to Damodar Mauzo to bring their work to English audiences.
