We live in a globally connected world and most people in developed countries have access to the Internet, have a smartphone, etc. For example, 87% of the United States population has a smartphone and 93% in the case of the United Kingdom.

Social media platforms, instant messaging and video calls have brought us closer and enable us to keep connection when we are far from each other. And the Internet has democratized information.

However, the quality of these connections is a point of contention. The sheer volume of digital interactions often comes at the cost of depth and authenticity.

Studies suggest that excessive screen time can contribute to feelings of loneliness and isolation despite being digitally connected.
