When they flew Sergeant Casey Romain into the hospital at Nha Trang, the medics were certain he was dead. That he didn't die was only the first surprise.

Dr. Goldman discovers that Romain has been fighting for two thousand years, ever since that day on Golgotha when he thrust a lance into the side of the Man on the Cross.

"Soldier, you are content with what you are. Then that you shall remain until we meet again."

Thus begins the saga of the Eternal Mercenary, a man who cannot die or age, and knows no skill than those of battle.
