For lovers of cosy magical fantasy, this one is for you.
When Diana Fawr learned that she had been declared a witch, she kissed her two silver-grey cat familiars farewell and embedded their spirits into the slate scrying stone above her hearth for safe-keeping. Then she left her cosy cave and climbed the hill to the Witch-finder's fire on the hillside. When the flames touched her, she simply disappeared, leaving nothing but the image of two silver cats in the smoke above the pyre, terrifying the onlooking villagers.
It was 1645 in South Wales; a time of a continuous plague, a civil war and the purging of those accused of witchcraft.
300 years later, Diana's descendant, Eirlys Vower, a talented young illustrator, inherited the cave, the spirits of the cats and the cottage and the land above the cave. She also inherited her ancestors magic in the nibs of her pens, the points of her pencils and the bristles of her paint brushes. This is their story.
