The boy and his dad went duck hunting. In the prairie by the river, he tried to shoot a duck repeatedly but he missed it several times. Another shot and the duck swooped down to the ground. James assumed he got it. He kept shooting the duck and happily shouting, dad, I got it!, dad I got it. He stopped shooting and started looking for the dead duck but instead, he heard chirping and little quacking. He saw the mother duck and the six little ducklings on their way to the river.
