Detective Billie McCoy is off duty and travelling through country New South Wales to visit a close friend when she's forced off the road by another driver. To her surprise, the man responsible is Brett White, a handsome local celebrity who insists on making amends. Charming, generous, and every bit the gentleman, Brett quickly wins Billie's trust, and she accepts his invitation to visit his family estate, where she begins to wonder whether their chance meeting could lead to something more.
But when Billie finally reunites with her friend, Bree Marshall, she discovers the quiet country town is hiding dangerous secrets. An underground group of masked extremists is terrorising the community, with the local Aboriginal population firmly in its sights. Tensions reach breaking point when three Aboriginal men are found murdered, and Bree, who is part Aboriginal, may be next.
Drawn into a deadly investigation, Billie must uncover the identities of the masked radicals before they claim another victim. With enemies lurking in the shadows and unexpected allies by her side, she'll risk everything to expose the truth before it's too late.

Carol lives on a property outside the small country town of Childers in Queensland, Australia. Married with three grownup children, she is now retired from working in a primary school as a Teacher Aide, where she also looked after the library and drove the school bus. Most of her life Carol has played in a four-piece band with her husband and they have now formed a duo after the band folded.
Carol began writing in the 1980's. At the time, there were no known heroines so she was inspired to create Detective Billie McCoy, a member of an elite undercover squad intent on bringing her enemies to justice. It wasn't until years later she decided to publish the series.
Carol loves to travel, both abroad and in Australia, which she is now discovering more of in her caravan.
