The sea hath no wrath like a seamage betrayed.
Cynthia Flaxal and Feldrin Brelak desperately pursue the mer who have stolen their son. They seek the floating city of Akrotia, forsaken a thousand years ago, which the mer aspire to restore to enchanted glory with the life of their child. Along the way, Cynthia must persuade the powerful young pyromage, Edan, to help, not hinder, their quest.
But while the Seamage of the Shattered Isles is absent, vengeful eyes turn toward Plume Isle. Sam seeks revenge for Cynthia's killing of the infamous pirate Bloodwind. Parek and his pirates seek to recoup Bloodwind's horde of treasure. The emperor seeks to bring the upstart seamage to justice for her crimes. And the cannibals seek prisoners... Camilla?once Bloodwind's captive, now Cynthia's friend?alone can save her loved ones from this assault, but does she possess the will to make the ultimate sacrifice?
Perils near and far threaten to destroy all that Cynthia has achieved. But little does she suspect that the greatest evil of all lurks deep in the heart of her home...

Chris was born and raised in Oregon, Anne in Massachusetts. They met at graduate school in Texas, and have been together ever since. They have been gaming together since 1985, sailing together since 1988, married since 1989, and writing together off and on throughout their relationship. Most astonishingly, they have not killed each other, or even tried to, at any time during the creation or editing of any of their stories…although it was close a few times. The couple has been sailing and writing full time aboard their beloved sailboat, Mr. Mac, since 2009. They return to the US every summer for conventions, so check out jaxbooks.com for updates and events. They are always happy to sign copies of their books and talk to fans.
