Already struggling with her responsibilities as Librarian, Megan just can't catch a break. Instead of a quiet winter holiday hanging with her friends, she faces a full-scale invasion of the manor she calls home.

When the headmistress of her school talks her father into hosting a New Year's ball for the Chinese ambassador and his family Megan encounters more than a culture clash. Someone among the entourage knows at least part of her secret, and proves themselves willing to kill to learn more.

Before she can figure out who, the Library is invaded and Megan must follow the culprit into another tome... one which she knows little about. Can she solve the tasks with the help of Mei-Li, the ambassador's daughter, or will both of them be trapped forever in one of Sir Gregory's magic books?
