Jake and Carissa grew up together outside of Shelby, Montana where the sons were raised to be ranchers and the girls were raised to be rancher's wives. Jake called her his raven because of her midnight black hair. The two have been connected since kindergarten and everyone assumed they would get married, but Carissa didn't want to be just a rancher's wife, she wanted a life she could claim as her own. So, she left Montana after high school and went to college in Minnesota. She became a powerful corporate attorney specializing in mergers, acquisitions, and takeovers.
