After claiming Averil in Book I, "The Quest for Averil," Fuchsia finds herself back at the time-portal platform on Ross b 128. She has no recollection of the previous events and, with Stiven back at the controls, she only remembers her most recent life with Henderson, who soon catches up with her. When they discover that Trekker and Kelvin are missing, the forgotten past begins to haunt everyone involved. This is especially true for bounty hunter Laramie, who is summoned once again, along with former military elite named Moxy. Henderson and Fuchsia soon team up with them, and after navigating through a series of strange multiverses, they find themselves back on an Earth-like planet. Interestingly, this new setting is peculiar and antiquated compared to the previous world their ancestors lived in, yet it is more dangerous and overtly lawless.
