Born in Louisiana, Missouri on November 7, 1874 George Samuel Clason became a great American author. After attending the University of Nebraska, he served in the United States Army during the Spanish-American War. Being an entrepreneur, he started two companies, the Clason Map Company of Denver, Colorado and the Clason Publishing Company. Clason is best known for a series of informational pamphlets on financial matters he authored in 1926. He created characters set in ancient Babylon that taught lessons on financial prosperity. The bankers and insurance companies of his day distributed millions of his pamphlets to their clients to promote saving and investing accounts. In 1937, Clason first put his words of wisdom together in his book GOLD AHEAD. His 2nd edition appeared in 1940. Today, it is better known as The Richest Man in Babylon. His writings have fallen into public domain. They have been reproduced numerous times. George S. Clason passed away on April 5, 1957 leaving this world a better place by helping millions of people financially prosper.
