Helen Emery is an Associate Professor in the department of Curriculum and Instruction at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman. She has taught English and lectured in Applied Linguistics and Education in Africa, the Far East, Middle East and the UK for over 30 years. She is specifically interested in teachers' professional development and the teaching of early literacy.

Sarah Rich holds an honorary fellow position at the University of Exeter in the UK where she ran teacher education programmes for many years. She is currently an educational advisor on in-service teacher training for the Ministry of Education in the Sultanate of Oman. Recent publications include an edited volume entitled International Perspectives on Teaching English to Young Learners.
