A war looming. A life lost. An adventure about to begin...

As the fires of the American Revolution continue to burn, Anna sets out westward toward a new place called Kentucky. Yet this land of plenty is called the 'Dark and Bloody Ground' for a reason. When she strikes up a powerful bond with a young pioneer woman named Rebecca, Anna begins to wonder if she's finally found a place in the world. As they make their way together toward a new home both strange and wild though, treacherous travelers, hostile tribes, and unseen dangers threaten to destroy their hopes and dreams.
