Kevin Greene, whose nickname is Kermit (courtesy of his teasing brothers), has red hair and is small, almost lost in his busy family. When two tiny beings from outer space convince him to return to their kingdom to help save it from the Devastators, who wish to destroy their planet, he embarks on an extraordinary journey.
When he arrives on Celabar, Kevin realizes it's been his destiny all along. He loves being a little bit bigger than the others and a hero to boot! But he must come up with a plan to get rid of a giant bird the Devastators are using to control their people and to gain control of the gold lying beneath Celabar. A plan with numbers.
(Special note to my readers: Of course, there is a Dachshund in the book.)
Another children's book by J.S. Keim, filled with fantasy, fun, and danger.
Autorentext
Judith Keim was born and raised in Elmira, New York, and now makes her home in Idaho with her husband and long-haired dachshund, Winston.
Growing up, books were always present - being read, ready to go back to the library or about to be discovered. Information from the books was shared in general conversation, giving all of us in the family a wealth of knowledge. Perhaps that is why I was drawn to the idea of writing stories early on. I love to write stories about women who rise to unexpected challenges and find love along the way.
As J.S. Keim I write books for children. I particularly love to write novels about kids who have interesting, fun, exciting experiences with creatures real and fantastical and characters who learn to see the world in a different way.
I have a story in Chicken Soup to Inspire a Woman's Soul an a story in Belle Book's Mossy Creek Series - A Summer in Mossy Creek. Some of my stories have finalled in RWA contests and three of my children's stories have been published in magazines - Highlights for Children, Jack and Jill and Children's Playmate.
Klappentext
Kevin "Kermit" Greene's life isn't easy. The biggest bully in Middle School is demanding a fight between them. And being the quiet one in a loud, boisterous family, he's often overlooked. His whole world changes when two tiny human-like creatures appear from another planet and tell him they're seeking a green hermit who's been talked about in their history as the Earth creature who will save their kingdom of Celabar from being destroyed. It takes them time before they realize it's actually Kermit Greene they're looking for. Kermit agrees to go with them. Why not? His world is pretty miserable and he's never been chosen for anything. On Celabar, Kermit is the hero he's always wanted to be, but to be worthy of the praise he receives he must come up with a plan to get rid of the giant bird the evil Devastators are using to control the people so they can steal the gold lying beneath Celabar's surface.
