In the dirt of Missouri's Mark Twain National Forest, an unsettling revelation nettles the sensibilities of the nearby "cow-pie" town of Success. Levi Thomlison, a young hustler from St. Louis, lies lifeless, bound by baling twine, and buried in a shallow grave. As the grueling details of his homicide stir up rage in the community, suspicion casts a long shadow over Farnas Elsmore-an "other"-who owns the local newspaper.

Farnas, a gay man whose farm abuts the horrific crime scene, finds himself roiled by a storm of accusations, given that his passionate and tumultuous love affair with Levi appears to have taken a deadly turn. As whispers of their ill-fated romance metastasize, some relish Farnas's downfall while others are intent on unearthing the enigma of Levi's cryptic past.

From award-winning author Joshua Senter comes a seductive saga of tangled hearts and twisted truths in which differing narratives highlight a question that dominates our current discourse: Is there such a thing as singular truth, especially when remembrances of the past are so often intertwined with the pieces of our stories that we're determined to forget?
