Kay was born and raised in Fayetteville, Arkansas and is a graduate of Fayetteville High School. She attended the University of Mississippi and the University of Arkansas before relocating to Connecticut where she studied creative writing at the University of Connecticut.Kay spent 34 years working as an executive in the banking industry, retiring from her role as a Senior Vice President at BOK Financial in 2016. A voracious lifelong reader and creative writer, she is also a hobbyist baker and inveterate traveler. She is the mother to two daughters, Laura and Gracie, and makes her home in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
