Winner of the Editors' Choice Black Quill Award for Best Dark Genre Collection*, Sparks and Shadows is the dazzling debut collection that first introduced the world to the fiercely original voice of multi-Bram Stoker Award-winning author Lucy A. Snyder. Spanning seventeen short stories, seven poems, and four biting humor essays, this eclectic anthology seamlessly bridges the gap between science fiction, visceral horror, and wry dark comedy. Urban fantasy enthusiasts won't want to miss a vital trio of stories featuring Miko, Sara, and Charlie?beloved characters who directly inhabit the universe of Snyder's acclaimed Jessie Shimmer novels (Spellbent, Shotgun Sorceress). By turns touching, chilling, seductive, and laugh-out-loud funny, Sparks and Shadows is a must-read passport through the beautiful, transgressive realms of the dark fantastic.
*The CGP edition is NOT the original edition of the book which won this award - this edition retains the text of that edition, which went out of print, and has a new cover, and includes a new introduction by Christopher Golden and afterword by Nalo Hopkinson.
