Forming part of the 'Russia through European Eyes' this text offers a series of letters written by Mrs Atkinson about her adventures and observation of the Kirghis female society in Kirghis Steppe and include recollections of Tomsk, Barnaoul, Altin-Koll, Zmeinogorsk, the Yenissey River, Irkoutak, and Petersburg from February 1848 to December 1853.
