MARTA MAGELLAN was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and lives in Miami, Florida. She loves nature, music, and children, all of which have led her to writing children's books. Her published nonfiction picture books have won several awards, including the Florida Book Award, California Reading Association Eureka Award, and Green Earth Book Award. She taught Composition, Creative Writing, and Survey of Children's Literature, at Miami Dade College, where she was a full professor.

MAIKE PLENZKE studied illustration in Hamburg, Germany. In her studio full of plants, Maike loves to do colorful illustrations for book covers, magazines, and comic books. When she is not drawing, she loves sewing, riding her longboard in the sun, and watching a movie on the couch. She also illustrated The Beatles: A Little Golden Book Biography and ABBA: A Little Golden Book Biography. She lives and works in Berlin with her partner and their dog.
