"The Basket Weaver and God" is the story of how a tough man (like a Western hero) came to a living faith at the age of 47, having transcended mere knowledge of God. My friend, the basket weaver, became my brother in faith. The often funny, sometimes strange stories serve as a vehicle; the essence lies in the biblical verses woven into them; the goal is for these verses to somehow enter the "public consciousness." The stories take place in a wide variety of settings, such as a Roma settlement, the Athens refugee camp, the city of Galway in Ireland, and homelessness itself. All of this is presented in an accessible, distinctive style: in the rhythm of basket weaving, in the cadence of everyday life.
