The book will detail how the standard model of particle physics came together and how experimental observations supported and guided its formulation. Topics will include: Precision measurements and overall status before the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), in particular with LEP and Tevatron data, The impact of LHC data, Higgs boson measurements and other new observations of processes and phenomena, the current status and prospects for the high luminosity LHC, open directions and prospects for future experiments.

Paolo Azzurri is an experimental particle physicist at the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), Italy, and CERN. He has 28 years of experience in the data analysis of different experimental collaborations, and is currently mostly engaged in measurements of standard model processes with the LHC data at CERN. He has published one book as single author, one conference proceedings volume as co-editor, 24 conference proceedings, and 203, 156, 1119 papers with the ALEPH, CDF and CMS collaborations respectively.
