How would you react if one day you found a genuine ghost sitting in your living room - declaring that from now on he's your new housemate?

Meet Sir Henry, the bitter, mischievous ghost of Urquhart Castle in Scotland. Cursed by his own son to haunt his castle until he saves a girl's life, he finally decides to leave his dilapidated, abandoned home and 'emigrate' to Switzerland, where he transforms himself into the genial and funny guardian spirit of his newly adopted family.

Our Ghost Harry is a charming ghost story that is equal parts spooky, hilarious and moving, perfect for readers aged 10 to 100. Ideal for reading aloud or enjoying on your own, it will terrify and delight audiences of all ages.

Autorentext

Peter De Geesewell was born and raised in Pratteln, a village near Basel, Switzerland, where he still lives today. He is married, has three daughters, and is the proud grandfather of six grandchildren. After graduating from the Kantonale Handelsschule in Basel in 1974, Peter studied English, German and history at the University of Basel for five years. He then obtained his secondary school teaching diploma and taught these subjects full-time at Pratteln Secondary School for over forty years, between 1979 and 2019. Throughout his teaching career, Peter wrote several English whodunnit plays tailored specifically to his students and successfully staged them with his classes. In addition, he wrote two full-length plays, one of which, Murder at the Asylum, was published in England by New Playwrights' Network (now Cressrelles Publishing Company Limited). Following his retirement, Peter began work on his debut novel, Our Ghost Harry, a ghost story set in both Urquhart Castle in Scotland and his home in Switzerland. Initially intended as a short story for his grandchildren, the project expanded into a full-length novel for readers aged 10 to 100. The book features 11 colour illustrations by Swiss artist Markus Urfer. The book launch was held at Pratteln Castle in June 2023, followed by several readings at libraries and primary schools, where the book was very well received. The English edition of Our Ghost Harry is scheduled for publication by Rowanvale Books in August 2026. Peter is currently working on a collection of German short stories for adults. www.degeesewell.ch
