In the Spring of 1849, an accountant's assistant in Chicago sign on for an adventure as a part owner of a farm in the western Kansas territory. The plan doesn't come together exactly as he imagined and he finds himself fleeing for his life toward the Rocky Mountains along the Santa Fe Trail. As he struggles to survive, he finds that the key is to do what others won't do.
