Sharon A. Gutman held faculty positions in occupational therapy education programs for 30 years, including Columbia University (2006-2021) and Rutgers University (2021-2024) where she served as a full professor; she is currently retired. During her 30-year career, Dr. Gutman published 76 peer-reviewed journal articles, 14 textbooks, 26 textbook chapters, and 24 editorials. She was editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Occupational Therapy (AJOT) (2008-2014) and received the following professional awards: inducted into the American Occupational Therapy Association Roster of Fellows (2009); awarded the Cordelia Myers Best Paper in AJOT accolade (2021); and awarded the Eleanor Clarke Slagle Lectureship (2021).
Diane Powers Dirette is a professor in the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences PhD Program at Western Michigan University. She has published 19 peer-reviewed journal articles, 6 textbooks, 19 textbook chapters, and 37 editorials. Dr. Dirette is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Open Journal of Occupational Therapy.
