Stephen Davies lives amongst Fulani herders in West Africa. He speaks Fulfulde, eats millet, accompanies cattle-drives and totally integrates himself with their way of life. At present he is setting up a Fulfulde radio station which will broadcast news and advice. He also writes for the Guardian Weekly (Letters from Bukina Faso) and occasionally for the Sunday Times.
