Insolvency features Detective Cassie Oliver and her partner Detective Benny "Beans" Bledsoe. Oliver, a divorced mother of two continuously fights for respect and equal treatment, while Bledsoe, nearing retirement, is content to do little. The drowning of a Russian mobster unleashes a series of events that lead the pair to three seemingly unrelated deaths: an overdose of a stripper turned office manager, the suicide of a drug addict, and the brutal beating death of a homeless man. The link between all the cases is a frail bookkeeper, Samuel Alden. The pair discovers the key to case, lies buried in the records of the Chesterland Center for Psychiatric Care.

T.B. Pasko is a retired police captain with twenty-seven years of law enforcement experience including command assignments in Vice, Narcotics and Uniformed Patrol. He was part of a multi-jurisdictional task force recognized by the Ohio Attorney General's Office for their work on the investigation, arrest and prosecution of serial killer Richard Beasley. Pasko also appeared on an episode of Investigation Discovery's Very Bad Men that featured the case. He holds a master's degree in police administration from the University of South Carolina and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Ashland University. He is a big fan of The Twilight Zone and other classic sci-fi TV shows and movies.
