Waldimir "Wally" Baskovich, author of Forged in Fitness, has spent more than fifty years in the fitness world. His background began in martial arts and later expanded into weight training. Inspired first by his father, a one-legged AAU gymnastics champion in the 1940s and later U.S. amputee golf champion, Wally was also influenced by fitness pioneers such as Jack LaLanne, Charles Atlas, Bruce Lee, and Dr. Arthur Jones of Nautilus.Over the years, he developed a practical approach to fitness and life built on old-school grit, functional strength, consistency, proper form, purpose, mind-body discipline, and self-control.After facing early-life challenges, personal struggles, and negative influences, Wally found that disciplined training provided him with structure, direction, and a new sense of purpose. His work reflects a lifelong belief that fitness is more than exercise; it is a practical means of building strength, discipline, confidence, and control.
